Phil Strauss
Pastor
Pastor Philip Strauss was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in the suburb of Kensington, Maryland. He attended Virginia Tech, where he started a school and art supplies business with friends and where he met his wife, Kathy. They started ministering together in the youth group of a local Blacksburg church. A year after graduation Phil and Kathy moved to Summersville, WV. Phil served as assistant pastor and children's minister at New Life Assembly of God. He then became the pastor at Mt. Hope (WV) Assembly of God before finally settling in as pastor at Word of Life Fellowship in Weston, WV, in 1985. Phil and Kathy have three adult children and four grandchildren, and also have numerous pets.
Phil accounts several ministers as important influences as he pursued the Lord's calling in his life. The teaching of Kenneth E. Hagin and Mark and Trina Hankins laid a foundation of faith in God's Word, and Pastor T. R. and Linda King and Pastor Richard and Jeannie Pennington were early friends and models who demonstrated walking in the life of faith. Brother Ron Bruce, teacher and missionary, has been a faithful friend who has sowed the Word and power of God into the whole church for over three decades.
