Devotional: Surrendering to God's Goodness - Day 3
Day 3: Building with the Right Motivation
Reading:
1 Corinthians 3:11-15
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
Psalm 127:1
1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
Devotional: Every person's work will be tested by fire—not for size or success, but for "what sort it is." You can build an impressive life, ministry, or career, but if it's not founded on Christ and motivated by His purposes, it's wood, hay, and stubble. The question isn't "How much am I accomplishing?" but "Why am I doing this?" Unless the Lord builds the house, builders labor in vain. Many construct impressive structures that ultimately don't survive eternity's fire. God cares about your heart's motivation more than your visible achievements. A small act done in genuine love and obedience to God carries more eternal weight than grand gestures done for recognition. Align your work with God's purposes, and you'll receive a reward that lasts.
Reflection: Am I building for God's glory or my own? What needs to change?
