Day 4: Trusting God in Affliction

Reading: Psalm 34:15-22;
15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
22 The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18
16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Devotional: Many are the afflictions of the righteous—but the Lord delivers us from them all. This promise doesn't mean trouble won't come; it means God walks with you through it. David wrote Psalm 34 after pretending to be insane to escape death, yet he declared, "I will bless the Lord at all times." Your circumstances don't determine your confession. The righteous cry out, and God hears. His eyes are upon you, His ears open to your prayers. Affliction is temporary, but God's faithfulness is eternal. Today, if you're facing trouble, don't deny it—but don't let it define you. Cry out to God and trust that deliverance is coming.
