Devotional: Living as Royalty in God's Kingdom - Day 1
Day 1: The Kingdom Within
Reading:
Luke 17:20-21
20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Romans 14:17-18
17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
Devotional: The Pharisees demanded to know when God's kingdom would arrive, expecting a political revolution. Jesus redirected their gaze inward: "The kingdom of God is within you." Before transformation appears externally, it must begin internally. Like yeast working invisibly through dough, God's kingdom starts in your spirit and gradually permeates every area of life. The evidence? Righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. These aren't emotions you manufacture but fruit that grows when Christ reigns in your heart. Today, examine your inner life. Where is worry displacing peace? Where is condemnation replacing righteousness? Invite the King to fully reign within, and watch His kingdom expand outward into your circumstances, relationships, and daily decisions.
