Devotional: Coping with Success- Day 5
Day 5: When I Am Weak, Then I Am Strong
Reading:
2 Corinthians 12:7-10
7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
Joel 3:10
10 Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.
Devotional:
"Let the weak say, I am strong"—this isn't positive thinking; it's faith in God's sufficient grace. Paul took pleasure in weaknesses, reproaches, and distresses because they became opportunities for Christ's power to rest upon him. Your inability to produce results in your own strength isn't a disqualification—it's an invitation to experience God's power. When your wisdom runs out, His grace is still sufficient. When your strength fails, His strength is made perfect. Stop hiding your weaknesses and start declaring God's strength over them. The Christian life isn't about being self-sufficient; it's about being God-dependent. In your weakness, His grace shines brightest.
Reflection Question:
What area of weakness can I surrender today, trusting that God's grace is sufficient for me?
